OUR STORY

Have you ever missed an old-school show because you found out too late?

By the time you heard about it, the artist had already left Atlanta—and everyone else was posting about the greatest show ever. Me too.

Why I created OldSchoolConcerts.live

I grew up in Northern New Jersey in the 1980s, surrounded by hip-hop, house music, breakdancing and beatboxing. Music was not background noise. It was how we connected, celebrated and made memories.

From teen nights at the Stargate Theater in Dover to clubs in New York, Newark, Orange and East Orange, I was lucky enough to experience the energy of this music while it was becoming part of our culture.

After college in Philadelphia, I eventually made Atlanta home. One of my favorite early Atlanta concerts brought Maxwell, Musiq Soulchild and Erykah Badu together at Chastain Park. Atlanta truly became home for me, and the live music was part of that.

But I kept missing shows. I would find out too late that an artist I loved had been right here in town. I missed Jon B last year and was sooooo sad. I knew I could not be the only person this kept happening to.

So I created OldSchoolConcerts.live—a simple place to discover when the legacy artists we love are coming to Atlanta and major neighboring Georgia cities, with free weekly text alerts, occasional emails and direct links to tickets.

The artists we love are still performing. The music is still live.

This is for everyone who still gets excited when that first note hits, who remembers where they were when the song came out, and who wants to make a few brand-new memories.
